Estimating Cycle times for Milling

When it comes to Milling there is almost no end to the multitude of operations and methods that can be used, but QuoteCam offers a simple non complicated approach that will allow estimators and shop owners to come up with a realistic estimate of cycle times.

Common operations such as facing for example can be estimated taking into consideration the true effective cutting diameter of the cutter and the percentage overlap, also pocket machining where the user can include time for roughing and finishing and different sized cutters for each stage. Keyways, slots, circular roughing and step milling are also easily managed.

When machining profiles Quotecam will make allowances for not only the cutter size but also for the increase in cutting time due to offsetting when taking roughing cuts. Quotecam can also make adjustments due to changes of direction in corners and on external profiles.

As with all the simulators its use is optional meaning that if you are confident with your own estimating abilities you may simply type in your own estimated time but if you need to be more precise the Milling Estimator will accurately calculate the total cycle time for each operation.

All the basic information such as material, cutting feeds & speeds etc are taken from the main quote so the user needs only to specify the dimensional information needed for the various features .
